So you've got
yourself one of those "Smooth & Powerfull" rubber mount
Harley Davidson Dressers. You can ride across town or across the country
in blissfull vibration free comfort. Nothing can spoil the feeling you
get cruising down that long lonesome hiway, except that uneasy feeling
you get passing a big truck, or pouring on the throttle in a sweeping
curve. You know...that unstable feeling of the ass end squirming all over
the road, or the "wobble" that comes on when you push the speed
limit a bit. The feeling thats makes you look for a Denney's to stop at
when your packin' a full load and ridin' in a stiff crosswind.
That loose in
the ass end feeling comes from the same technology that allows the smooth,
no vibration ride. It's caused by the rubber mount system. Many Bagger
Pilots don't realize that the swingarrn on the large HDs is not mounted
solidly to the frame, instead it is connected to the transmission with
a pivot shaft that is held in the frame with rubber grommet type mounts.
These rubber mounts isolate the engine from the frame reducing vibration,
but they also allow for lateral movement in the swing arm. This movement
becomes very evident during hard turns, high speeds, crosswinds, or passing
that slow moving 18 wheeler. It can also show up in bikes with high horsepower
engines or other rubbermount models such as the FXR and older bikes with
high miliage.
This wobble and looseness can cause a great reduction in riding pleasure
and even has been know to cause accidents.
The Honolulu Police Department was so plagued by this problem that they
opted to replace their entire HD fleet with more expensive BMWs.

Now there is a way to easilly address this problem. The StableRight system
restores that
"glued to the road "feeling. It is easilly installed, unobtrusive
and positive.
